The Synology (RS815+)
The short version: an RS815+ that has been running in one form or another for years, and gets rebuilt, reconfigured, and re-learned every time DSM ships a major update or we finally get around to fixing something we duct-taped together the first time.
This project is less about a single build and more about ongoing maintenance done properly. Package setups, storage decisions, the things that broke and why, written up as we actually work through them on real hardware, not copied off someone else's tutorial.
what we'd do differently
Still forming opinions on this one. The honest answer right now is we don't fully know yet, some of the Docker stack running on this box isn't completely dialed in. We'll update this once we've lived with the current setup long enough to actually judge it.
No related posts yet. We link one here when we've actually written about this project, not just mentioned it in passing.
